When I wrote Book 3, I wanted it to feel like a classic adventure—treasure, traps, teamwork—and, of course, gooey chaos.

What I didn’t expect was how funny the partnership between Devdan, Skeleton Steve, and Mr. Whiskers would become. There’s something about a cat swatting at slime mobs while a skeleton lectures about “proper adventuring technique” that just makes me laugh every time. Between the jungle temple’s traps and a witch who literally weaponizes slime, our heroes barely make it out without slipping into oblivion.

But the real “right stuff” here isn’t just golden apples or potions—it’s guts. (Not literal guts. Devdan lost those long ago.) This story is about persistence. About two undead friends who refuse to quit even when the world throws acid, slime, and bad luck their way. And maybe, just maybe, about learning that courage doesn’t always come in shiny bottles.

The evil witch is dead and Worla is satisfied with Devdan’s hard work. Holding up her end of the deal, Devdan’s benefactor tells the teenage zombie villager (and Skeleton Steve) that they’ll need to find the right stuff–a Golden Apple and a Potion of Weakness–to perform the transformation process. She even tells them where to find the items!

But when the potion they need lies within the lair of another rival witch, one who stole all of Worla’s potion-brewing gear, and this second rival witch is also a master of slime control, will Devdan and Skeleton Steve (and the cat, Mr. Whiskers!) be able to deal with another evil magic user? And will delving down into a jungle temple full of tricks and traps prove to be too much for the duo?
